Meet Ruby (Our Namesake)

Ruby Grace was raised on her family farm in the “Sweetest Town in Texas,” Honey Grove. Upon High School graduation, she attended Draughon's Business School in Wichita Falls, Texas. After graduation, Ruby returned to Honey Grove and started her career in banking. In 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Jim, and they have one son, Stan. 

Jim’s job took them to Carrollton, Texas, where Ruby retired after 45 years of service as a Vice President of what is now Bank of America. She was the first woman in the bank to earn the VP position!

 While living in Carrollton, they both were very active in their church and community, but the lifelong dream of Ruby and Jim was to retire and return to her family farm in Honey Grove, which they did. She spent most of her retired life gardening, singing in the church choir, playing bridge and holding numerous positions in her church. In fact, she was the treasurer for several years.

After, Jim’s passing in 2011, Ruby knew she needed more care physically, although her mind was still sharp. When she moved to Plano, Texas, daughter-in-law, Joyce Logan, went with Ruby to visit several Independent and Assisted Living facilities.  It was almost two years before she made the final decision to choose one. Ruby is so thankful to Joyce for not only being patient in finding her a comfortable home in independent assisted living, but always being there to help meet her other needs as well. Ruby often calls Joyce “Ms. Fix-It Woman.” 

Ruby passed away in 2020, but up until her last days, you'd never find her without hair and nails done to perfection, or without her jewels and latest fashions. 

She is sorely missed by all who knew her.
